Testing of Floor Mount Base Clamps in Accordance with BS 6180:2011 Barriers In and About Buildings
A horizontal line load was applied to the glass at height of 1.1m above the datum level of the floor with the base clamps set at 500mm centres using a range of glass types as following:
- Two Base Clamps:
15mm Tempered Monolithic Glass
19mm Tempered Monolithic Glass
20.76mm Laminated Toughened Glass
16.76mm Sentry Glass Laminated Tempered
16.76mm PVB Glass Laminated Tempered
21.78mm Sentry Glass Laminated Tempered - Three Base Clamps
20.76mm Laminated Toughened Glass
Table 1 - Summary of Performance under Horizontal Imposed Line Load
Note: The load deflection characteristics for the Base Clamps using 16.76mm glass panels (2 x 8mm glass 0.76mm foil) over a range of spans met a series of working line load values in accordance with BS 6180:2011. Therefore glass panels having the same thickness glass with a thicker foil of 1.52mm should perform in comparable way to those incorporating a 0.76mm foil. This applies similarly to panels having 2 x 10mm glass panels with differing foil thicknesses.
